Version 1.6.5
Includes the following new features:
- The custom display style (macOS, ungrouped labeled, hybrid) is now also available for links
- Applications in ungrouped labeled style that do not have a window will now show the running indicator
- When hovering an application while adding it to the application-specific settings, you'll now see the path of the application. This can be useful when adding application-specific settings for e.g., wrapped applications like PWAs
- Stacks now open the stack grid view when hovering the stack icon
- When hovering a folder, this will now automatically show the FolderPeek view. The setting "Open in Finder" has been renamed to "Show folder name" and now only affects what happens when hovering a folder. Clicking a folder will now always open the folder in Finder
- Folders will now display the name of the root folder (the one that's pinned) at the very top
- Added a new setting to control the preview size when hovering a file in FolderPeek
- Resized the generic media player (don't follow the application) so that it has the same layout as the one that's displayed when following the application

- Adjusted the size of the background color for the media player when not following the application
- Added a new general setting to enable or disable notification badges (enabled by default)
- Added a new expert setting that will prevent Sidebar from attempting to load window information of applications located on inactive screen Spaces. This can be useful if you encounter issues with applications appearing on the wrong Space after, for example, waking up from sleep
- Added another expert setting that will force the overlapping prevention to only resize windows instead of also moving them
- The size of the volume control icon in Sidebar, as well as the icon for the truncated applications (arrow), has been adjusted to better match the size of all other icons
- Changed the order of icons in the right side actions to: Trash, Volume controls, Multimedia controls, Date / Time
- When hovering the volume controls or the truncated applications arrow, the hovering effect was changed so that the icon becomes slightly darker while hovered
Includes the following bug fixes:
- Fixed some issues in the window detection mechanism of Sidebar that sometimes caused missing application windows or wrong application windows to be displayed
- Introduced a slight delay when your Mac wakes up from sleep or the display configuration changes, so that getting information of apps located on inactive Spaces might not be placed at the wrong Space anymore after one of those events
- Fixed an issue that could sometimes cause Sidebar to crash
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused applications to overlap with elements like the trash icon, volume controls, etc.
- When disabling the "Follow application" setting for the multimedia controls, the preview window settings as well as the setting to replace the app icon with the cover image will now only affect the multimedia controls and not the app (because the "Follow application" setting is disabled)
- Fixed an issue that, when using the multimedia controls while looking at previews in FolderPeek, would not stop the controls from showing after closing the preview
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused big application preview windows (hover a small preview window) to be smaller than the actual window
- Fixed flickering when opening a preview window of an application that's within a stack
- Fixed an issue that caused icons not to be centred in the screen if the "Screen center" option is selected while the multimedia controls are active without following the application
- Fixed a layout problem when a folder is placed inside a stack
- Fixed a problem that caused the context menu of the trash folder not to show the correct number of items in the trash
- Fixed some issues with blurring the background
- Fixed translucent background when using rounded corners
- Fixed layout issue with multimedia controls so that they are now centred in their frame again
- Fixed an issue that some system services could appear in Sidebar unintentionally (e.g., screen saver)
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the volume control window to remain open, even though the window lost focus
Version 1.6.4
macOS Sequoia
-

So if you encounter any problems with minimised application windows, try turning on this setting for the respective application
- Added a help button to the application specific settings that will display a short description for each setting
- If you decrease the volume down to 0, the sound will now automatically be muted

- Added a new preview window option for the multimedia previews: No preview windows at all
- You can now replace the application icon with the current cover image for the multimedia controls (this works in both cases: for the standalone multimedia controls as well as when following the application)
- There's now a new option for the volume controls to show a small volume control window that will just display the current system volume in percent rather than displaying a slider as in the larger window
- The styling option for background blurring has been improved. You can now also customize the blurring radius/intensity in the styling settings
Includes the following bug fixes:
- Fixed the animation when Sidebar appears if it's auto hidden
- Fixed the layout of the multimedia controls when using the "Compact" or "Controls only" option in combination with ungrouped labeled style

- Minimised application windows of some specific apps (e.g. Google Chrome persisted web apps) are now correctly detected

The setting can be found in the styling settings and is called 'Screen side offset'.
As usual this setting can be changed on a per-screen basis
- Additionally, you can configure a gap between Sidebar and its additional windows (previews, calendar, ...)

Improved multimedia controls
-
Sidebar now supports showing multimedia controls (play, pause, ...) for every application that supports media playback (e.g. browsers).
This mirrors the behaviour that you can see in the macOS Control Center
- Multimedia controls can now either be added as a separate media player that's independent of any application, or follow the application that's currently playing
-
There are now four different styles available:
- Compact: Only show the play / pause control
- Controls only: Shows all controls, nothing else
- Title and controls: Shows all controls as well as the currently played title
- Full: Shows all controls, the title as well as the app icon
-
Likewise, you can now customise the preview window for multimedia apps
- Cover image and controls: Displays the cover image of the currently played media, as well as controls within the preview window
- Cover image: Only displays the cover image, no controls
- Application windows: Displays the regular application windows rather than the cover of the currently played media
Improved volume controls

- The volume control slider now automatically opens if you hover the icon in Sidebar
- Clicking the volume icon in Sidebar will now mute / unmute your sound
- You can now change your system volume level by hovering the volume icon in Sidebar and using the scroll wheel / scroll touch gesture
- The same scroll gesture works while hovering the volume slider itself
Other improvements

- Added a new section to the settings called "Expert settings". This section adds toggles for specific fixes that might be necessary on some systems

- Improved offline (downloaded) licenses. The time period how long a downloaded license can be used fully offline has been extended from 3 months to 4
